Point of difference

I found this What's your point of difference? article very interesting. If do want to do something crafty, I need to think about my U.S.P. as there are many, many amazing crafters out there.

Blizzard of '77 - Nada Surf

This song makes me feel a little sad. Maybe a lot sad (great use of language there, Laura). One of my closest friends is moving away for university and I'm really gonna miss him. However, in the grand scheme of things, I know I'll know him until we're old and wrinkly, so what's five years??

Procrastination is my middle name.....no wait it's Louise!

Uh oh! May have put off sorting out my student loan this year......
Well, I say that but I actually was quicker than quick to apply for my loan, then realised my fees were going up (Thanks Con/Dem government!) and had to complete a change of circumstances form. Sorted right? No, not at all. I get a text saying:

Your student loan application is nearly there - but we can't pay you until you sign and return the declaration form we sent you.

I did indeed get sent this form, then moved house and lost it in the process. And it's almost impossible to find exactly what you're looking for on their website. If only I could email to request one, things would be easy. However, the reality is I have to ring them on my mobile, costing me the price of a small island, and speak to an "advisor". Well, I do believe that an "advisor" advises, past experience, however, tells me that they are much better at "giving unhelpful information". In short, I've been putting off speaking to them as I doesn't do anything for my stress levels. But I guess, when someone is giving you money, it's something I need to do sharpish.

Plus I won't be able to enrol.

More faffing.

Yorkshire Lavender

So, seeing as I was ill yesterday (still am!) I took a trip to Terrington, near Castle Howard, to Yorkshire Lavender. I thought it would be good to practise my photography skills and I'm pretty impressed with myself.

I hate being ill :(

Snotty, snotty, snotty! What joy!

I'm gonna go get some fresh air and explore - resting is boring.

Beautiful Losers

I can't wait for this film to arrive from Amazon

Mister Lonely

Some of Harmony Korine's previous work, Mister Lonely. It looks quite bizarre so I'm sure I'll like it, best add it to the wish list :)

Trash Humpers

I saw this at Leeds Festival in the alternative stage.........very very weird. I am however, intrigued so I think I'll look into the film maker's other work (Harmony Korine).

:(

I've been a little distracted of late. Things on my mind and the fact that I've been working full time all summer. I've started to see areas in my life that I'm not happy with so I foresee some big changes ahead. Starting with my job. I need to decide if I want this responsibility.

I'm off to Leeds Fest today, so I have some time to contemplate.

Love sucks

I wish I could switch off right now and reboot.

It would make everything easier to do.

I'm looking forward to September and also dreading it.

Love sucks.

I actually laughed out loud when I read this the other night!

TestSpace Kitchen

TestSpace are holding their next event at the Templeworks in September. I facebooked them about taking part and they said yes :)

TestSpace Kitchen is kind of a blend of art and food, so Craft Addicts will hopefully be making some foodie crafts to sell/display there. Maybe we could do a workshop?

I'm excited :)

Voluntary Work

I've applied for two voluntary placements in the last few days, at Youthpoint and Music Arts Production Leeds. I just need to wait for my application to go through.

I also asked my bro, who works at Interplay, if I could get some work experience there.......
.........He said he would make it happen :)

I need to think about exactly what I want to do when I'm there, but I'm going to have a chat with him soon. I was thinking maybe a zine workshop would be cool and quite interesting to the kids there.

Something's Hiding in Here

Forestbound & The Snail

There's lots of creative things that I want to do over the summer, but firstly I need to make my new flat feel more like home. I think I work better in a place that's homely, (meaning cluttered!) so I think my current project is to make things for the flat. The walls are so bare here and posters don't seem to really be my thing anymore, so I'm going to think outside the box and make some wall decorations that are a bit unusual. I really like the decor in Nation of Shopkeepers, it's really inspiring.

Stress

I now have three sleeps until I move house :) Apparently I can get on Leeds Uni wifi from my flat, however, I don't know a password.........I will have to investigate. Otherwise I'm going to have to fork out for broadband, which means a phone line (which I'm not sure is there already and will cost me at least £100 to get installed!) after that I can get a pretty good deal on broadband but will have to pay £11 a month for a phone line that I won't use.

I think I need to prioritise what I want, or work out where I'm going to make a sacrifice to pay for all this as I'll have other bills and my rent is now almost double than what I pay now.

Sacrifices:
  • Quit smoking - definitely
  • Cheap drinking at home before nights out
  • Nights out without drinking?!?
  • Work more hours at work over the summer :(
Cheap ideas:
  • See what I can swipe from work for the new flat (cutlery etc)
  • Pound shop
  • Go to the library for internet
  • Buy cheap bulk food (pasta, rice etc)
  • No buses/taxis; cycle!!
  • Nights in, dinner parties
  • Freecycle
I think I'm going to have to cut back dramatically so that I don't have to work more than 15 hours a week during term time.

Now what skates do I want?

Bob Proctor on The Secret

The Secret

I recently was feeling a little down about things and was talking to my friend Mark. He said he had a book I might like to read, that book was called The Secret. I've just read through it and although I'm normally a bit cynical about books like this, I do think that positive thoughts attracts positive things into your life. I am going to be more positive about things and focus my thoughts on what I want rather than what I don't want.

Impossible Project to relaunch Polaroid-compatible film

Impossible Project to relaunch Polaroid-compatible film

I have a polaroid camera :)
After checking out the prices of Polaroid 600 film on Amazon, I was a little bit disheartened as it has been discontinued and it's about £80 for a 10 shot film!! It's now considered rare and the prices reflect this. I did a bit of research and found that The Impossible Project have bought one of the old Polaroid factories and equipment and are now starting to make film that is compatible with Polaroid 600 cameras at a much cheaper price. It's still quite expensive but it's dramatically cheaper.

Do not adjust your mind, there is a fault in reality.
